I'm attending the Virginia Aviation Conference today and thought ya'll might
like to hear about the following events........
( assuming someone gets a new engine in time! )
1) September 30th & October 1st - 8-5 Saturday, 8-3 Sunday, the 10th Annual
Virginia Regional EAA Fly-In, Dinwiddie County Airport, Petersburg, VA
(KPTB). More information at http://www.vaeaa.org. There will be a pancake
breakfast both days, starting at 8 (would it be an EAA Fly In without
pancakes?).
This Fly In, by the way, is the only event (as opposed to locations) that is
required as part of the Virginia Aviation Ambassador Program sign off for
the famous 'Honorary Randy Burdette Super-Cool Leather Flight Jacket'.
Just remember, W75 is only 2,200 feet long. Ya'll spoiled young guys used
to those big runways in Manassas and Leesburg.....be careful !
2) September 30th - 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - The 11th Annual Wings & Wheels Event
in Topping, VA at Hummel Field (W75). More information at
http://www.wingsandwheels.us. This event features antique cars, fire
engines, and aircraft, along with a craft show. Hummel is known, of course,
for Eckhardt's fine German cuisine directly across the street. I highly
recommend the spaetzle....as good as I remember it from my Army days in
Bavaria.
3) September 23rd & 24th - 9-5 Saturday, 10-4 Sunday, Stafford Rotary's
"Wings, Wheels & Ducks" show at Stafford Regional Airport (KRMN) . More
information available at http://www.staffordrotary.org, then select 'Wings,
Wheels, and Ducks'. The National Capitol Squadron of the CAF will be giving
rides in their L-5 and BT-13, skydivers will exhibit bad judgment by jumping
out of perfectly good airplanes, and there will be a custom car show.
4) Sept 16-17 "Mid-Atlantic Light Sport Aircraft Show - All 37 of the
FAA-Certified Special Light Sport Aircraft (SLSA) have been invited to
converge on the Sky Bryce Airport (VG-18) in Virginia for a 2-day Air Show
on Sept 16-17, 2006. So far, seven SLSA's have signed up, including the
Zenair 601XL, Fantasy Air - Allegro, Liberty Sport Aviation's Evektor
Sportstar & Flight Design CT, Hansen Air Group's Sky Arrow, Precision
Windsports' XT912, & Robert Nolan's 912M. More information is allegedly
available at http://www.MASPL.com/Airshow.htm
I offer no warranties, express or implied, regarding the validity or
accuracy of this data. I'm just relaying brochures being distributed here.
I HIGHLY recommend checking NOTAMs prior to flight, and check websites for
arrival procedures, if published.
