Press Release from HTPi

March 2, 2003. As you know, yesterday we lost three members of our family
in a tragic plane crash; our founder and CEO Don Fitzpatrick, our pilot, Greg
Jackson, and our corporation counsel, Ford Byrd. Our condolences go out to
the families of these men.
Don Fitzpatrick was our leader, our Partner and our friend, a good husband
and father. The success of High Performance Technologies over the past ten
years is due in large measure to his clear vision and strategic genius. He
kept us focused on those factors most important to our success: our
employees, customers, and technological excellence. By example, Don drove
this firm to be the best that it could be. We grieve his loss and feel a
sadness words can’t express, but we will not let this break our spirit.
Don wanted HPTi to be “Built to Last,” and we dedicate ourselves to
fulfilling that vision – it will be our contribution to his legacy.
Greg Jackson had only been with us for four months, but we came to respect
and admire him as a fine pilot and a good man. He was truly an expert in the
world of private aircraft, and his loss will be immense. It simply makes
this tragedy worse that we will not get to know him better.
Ford Byrd, although a consultant, was a part of our family, one of the senior
leaders of this company. His contribution to establishing our employee
ownership model was invaluable in executing the vision for the firm. His
personal warmth and charm enhanced our lives in many ways. It is hard to
imagine this company without him.
This company will survive. Over time, the pain will lessen, but our memories
of these three men will never dim. Those memories will only increase our
determination to make HPTi the envy of all in the technology industry. Don
would want that!
