[JYO] Feedback from Dave Pearce...

Hi folks -

Attached is an e-mail from Dave Pearce directed at me. I am posting his
message in it's entirety.

As far as who I represent, I represent myself. I spread my views via e-mail
and my web site. Folks are FREE to either be on my e-mail list or take
themselves off.

I call my e-mail list and web viewers an "association" as the majority of
those on the list are associated to one another by friendship, family,
sharing the same airspace or just being a pilot.

If anyone want's to be removed from the e-mail list, removal instructions are
below.

Thanks,

Ed Levine

I waas just informed that someone calling himself the official representative
of the pilots of the Leesburg airport association has complained to the FAA
about "the poor service that the pilots at leesburg were getting from ATC ie.
FAA."
I was never informed about a meeting electing anyone to represent the pilots
at Leesburg, and in any case no one has been given the authority to maake any
complaints in my or anyones name.
This sort of wild assed complaints to the FAA hurts us all. The FAA will now
probably send Inspectors out to observe the procedures at the airport and
generally nose around to see if the so called complaints are real or not.
Now for myself, I have been working with the FAA for over 30 years to
establish procedures and have gotten nothing but good responses, in fact too
many to mention here. There is a procedure for complaints thru channels.
There is a quality control person at ATC Dulles and if that person is
contacted we can always work out a solution to any problems we may or may not
have. Usually the problems are generated by the ignorance of the complainer
who does not have a clue as to what is going on. In any event no one has the
authority to go to the FAA for any reason and passing himself off as a
representative of the pilots aat Leesburg. Guys and Gals, you should all be
as angry as I am over this situation.. As the accident prevention counsellor
and the FAA Coordinator for the Leesburg Airport all problems can and should
be forwarded to me and I will go thru the proper channels using a little
diplomacy and finess without bringing down the fury of some FAA folks. At one
time we had an official Airport Association which accomplished a great deal
until one loudmouth wormed his way into the leadership and started Accusing
the FAA of all kinds of things and then started going to the airport
commission meetings and sounding off about all kinds of complaints he, but
not necessairly the rest of us, had. Things got so bad that the association
had to shut down to get rid of him, but the damage had been done and I
disbanded the association. As long as the airport commission continiues to
listen to our suggestions and responds to us, then I don't see the need for
another. I would suggest that an association could be formed but it must be
under a democratic system with approiate committies and appointed
spokepersons to forward our wishes and suggestions to the proper officials.
My word is that no one is authorized to speak for me or in anyway say they
represent me in any matters. I am not presently a member of the phantom
airport association and my name is not to be construed as being a member.
