FAA still seeking final approval for easing restrictions
Meeting with security officials scheduled for Monday morning
11/16/01 4:49:37 PM ET — As of late this afternoon, FAA officials report that
no easing of airspace restrictions are likely to occur before Monday. FAA was
unable to secure final approval from security officials in time for a weekend
release. A meeting with security agencies has been set for Monday morning and
AOPA anticipates an announcement sometime after this meeting takes place. As
reported yesterday, the FAA is working on
a plan to phase out ECB and ease
restrictions in the Washington no-fly zone. AOPA will continue to work
closely with the FAA on these important initiatives as well as the New York
and Boston areas and provide updates as they become available.
