ECB rollback plan still not approved by federal authorities

10/29/01 7:05:48 PM ET — AOPA is disappointed that the anticipated
announcement of a plan to phase out 27 of the 30 enhanced Class B (ECB)
locations has not yet occurred. Despite hard work by FAA air traffic
officials over the weekend and throughout Monday, the plan has yet to be
approved by other federal authorities. AOPA believes that lifting the ECB
restrictions would return the airspace to normal operations, opening the way
for removing many of the restrictions on specialty operations such as banner
towing, traffic and news reporting, and aerial surveying. The association
staff remains in continuous contact with the FAA and will post updates as
changes occur.
