Martin Hired As Permanent Airport Director

May 05, 2004 -- Leesburg Town Manager Robert S. Noe announced Wednesday  that 
Cindi Martin, who has been serving as the town’s interim director of  
Leesburg Executive Airport for the past year, has been hired as the permanent  
director. 
Martin also served as the airport’s interim director for three  months in 
2000. Noe said in a statement that Martin has excelled as the interim  director 
and he is “delighted” to appoint her permanent director. She will be  paid 
$86,000 per year. 
Leesburg is a nice place to work, Martin said Wednesday. She noted that  
there are a “number of professional challenges,” at Leesburg airport and 
said  
her primary focus will be the operational safety and efficiency of the airport. 
 
In the next year, Martin added, the focus will be on land acquisition on the  
west side of the airport, a runway rehabilitation project, safety fencing and 
 completing the airport master plan. 
According to the town, Martin has more than 18 years of administration and  
operations experience at commercial and general aviation airports. Her work 
also  includes establishing working relationships with federal and state 
legislators,  the Federal Aviation Administration, the Department of 
Transportation, 
the  Environmental Protection Agency and other federal and state agencies. She 
has  experience managing airport grant programs, developing budgets, 
administering  capital construction projects and overseeing staff development 
and  
airport-tenant relations. 
Martin has been working closely with the town’s capital projects manager  and 
engineers on the $3 million expansion to the terminal building at the  
airport. A ribbon cutting ceremony for the terminal expansion is scheduled for

p.m. Saturday.
