[JYO] Captain Al Haynes coming to IAD April 24 for Aviation Safety Week

(From http://www.southern-aviator.com)

Captain Al Haynes, an aviation circuit speaker who crash-landed a United
Airlines jet in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1989, will be a keynote speaker at
Virginia's Aviation Safety Week.

Haynes' airliner became virtually uncontrollable when it lost its entire
hydraulic system. While 112 people died in the crash, 184 survived.

Now retired, Haynes speaks about Flight 232 so that other pilots, air
traffic controllers, and emergency crews and planners learn from his
experience.

Haynes will speak at four venues in Virginia:

April 22, Richmond: Highland Springs High School.

April 23, Norfolk: Lake Taylor High School.

April 24, Washington Dulles International Airport, Atlantic Coast Airlines
Maintenance Facility.

April 25, Roanoke: William Fleming High School.

Each program is scheduled for 7-9 p.m.

Aviation Safety Week 2002 is free to the public. Call Jeanie Carter at the
Virginia Department of Aviation (804-236-3639) for further information.
Information and directions are also available on the department's website:
