CAMP DAVID TFR TO EXPAND THIS WEEKEND
Pilots flying in the Mid-Atlantic area are cautioned that the temporary
flight restriction (TFR) area centered on Prohibited Area P-40, the
presidential retreat at Camp David, Maryland, will grow larger beginning
tomorrow (Friday, November 7) when President Bush visits the facility.

President Bush is expected to arrive at Camp David late Friday afternoon,
and remain there until sometime Sunday. Based on previous presidential
visits, AOPA anticipates that the notam will establish a 10-nm-radius
temporary flight restriction (TFR) limiting general aviation flight,
surrounding a smaller area in which GA flight will be prohibited.
However, at this time AOPA does not have confirmation as to the size of
the TFR or when it will be active. The notam had not been issued as of
4 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday. AOPA will post the notam on AOPA Online
( http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/notams.html ) as soon as possible after
it is issued.

Because TFR airspace frequently changes, AOPA strongly encourages pilots
to obtain a briefing and CHECK NOTAMS before every flight. Violators will
be intercepted and forced to land.

The AOPA Air Safety Foundation has prepared a handy card that provides
the intercept procedures that could save your life, since military pilots
have shoot-down authority. Download the card from AOPA Online
( http://download.aopa.org/epilot/2003/intercept.pdf ), learn the
information carried on it, and carry it with you when you fly. ASF also
has an online course for navigating in today's complex airspace environment
called "Know Before You Go" ( http://www.aopa.org/asf/know_before/ ).
