[JYO] Bye Bye Leesburg

Hi,

My airplane and I have left Leesburg. After more than 20 years of
flying and owning airplanes based at Leesburg, I was forced to make that
decision. I got a letter from Landmark in early November stating that
my hangar rent was going from $600 to $750. A whopping 25% increase in
what one would certainly call recessionary times - if not depressionary.

That - coupled with the threat of Loudoun county looking to us rich
aircraft owners to supplement their tax short falls - supported the
correctness of the decision.

I rented a completely new hangar at Manassas for over $250/month LESS
than I was going to have to pay to stay. I really feel for the Leesburg
Airport Commission - as I know the airport was just breaking even -
finally. When I rented at Manassas - I was told that I was the fourth
person from Leesburg in the past 2 weeks.

I only have a one year lease - and if costs and conditions at Leesburg
make sense - I certainly can return. However, until then - my Aztec and
I can be found at Manassas.

Ron
