Hi Ed,
I made a presentation about converting the Jetstream 41 fuselage into a
flight simulator, outlined the educational opportunities this offers the
community and local organizations, and offered my assistance with the
technical
aspects. The commission will consider this and another proposal to use the
fuselage for fire and rescue training at the next commission meeting. The
commission asked that interested parties contact them in the interim. [For a

the presentation, email me at sean@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]
Here are some highlights of the rest of the meeting. Be forewarned, this is
not complete, and perhaps not even accurate, as these notes are from my
memory.
- ILS could take as long as three to five years.
- Numerous complaints about aircraft noise have been received from a nearby
resident. The commission discussed ways to address this concern.
- Two medevac companies are planning to move to Leesburg Airport.
Representatives of both companies attended the meeting. Noise impct and
effect on
nearby tied-down aircraft were discussed. One of the proposed sites is also
one
of the proposed self-fuel sites that was the least preferred self-fuel site.
- A vendor for the display in the new terminal (as part of the Airport
Gateway project) was selected. A small team of commissioners was formed to
work
with the vendor.
- New terminal open house will be held in the beginning of May, rain or
shine.
