Yeah, Myron is right - visudo DOES make syntax checks when you close the file.
I change my sudo file so rarely that I usually read the manpage first, so
didn't pick up on that I guess. I remember the other vi* utilities as not
being so nice.
What I would like is a nice colorized vi display, much like when you're writing
perl or C. Then you would see your errors right away when the text was the
wrong color. It's very hard to miss a " or ; in perl with a colorized display,
as the whole line below the one you're editing turns the wrong color.
