Sean,

If you want a little about Blender, I have two v1.8 manuals. You are welcome 
to borrow one. V1.8 is a bit old (doesn't have the game engine), but if is 
still useful for getting familiar with the commands and the interface. There 
are also a couple of tutorials to work through.
