I just compiled and installed mysql 3.23.51 from source. When I try to
run it, mysqld spits out a repsonse: "fatal error: Please read security
section of the manual to find out how to run mysql as root!". it then
aborts mysql. This didn't happen when I installed the binaries that
came with suse, but then again they didn't work the apache either (I'm
trying to get slashcode to run). A good search didn't turn up anything
useful. I tried safe_mysqld -sg, and other password recovery methods
just in case. Any ideas? Thanks.
Toby
