Thanks for the advice and examples.

I can't say that any of your examples exactly fit my situation, 
but, I did achieve some of what I wanted, and I think the advice 
and examples did contribute to my solution.  

I still haven't met all my requirements....

I have Confluence appearing as my default application, and I can 
make it appear from multiple virtual hosts....  But, I don't yet 
have different Confluence "spaces" selected by virtue of which 
virtual host the request is directed to.

But at this time I am satisfied enough with my configuration that 
I have documented it....
