I've just been google surfing and I think you might be better off with Samba
2.2.x. The 2.2 Samba is much better at dealing with Win2k, and I'd bet
money that Win2k and WinME share a lot of networking code. I noticed a big
trend in people complaining about not being able to get WinME to work on a
network that was happily using Win98. Unfortunately I didn't find a
solution to your problem (I searched for the node error you were getting).
One thing to keep in mind is that Samba 2.2 has different dependencies than
Samba 2.0 - I have the Samba 2.2 rpm's from Rawhide, but get dependency
errors when I attempt to install them on RedHat 7.1 with the latest patches.
So there's probably some other development stuff you'd need first. (Sorry,
I only had a little bit of time and didn't write down the dependencies - my
setup is working, and I chalked it up for 'another day.')
Cheers,
James Z.
