Hi, all!
I haven't been too active with this newsgroup lately. Kind of miss it, but it
is hard for me to keep up with things during the summer.
I have been tinkering aound with a PostNuke installation here at
home...nothing you can look at. Maybe later. Anyway, this required that I
also install mySQL and PHP. I also installed phpMyAdmin to administer mySQL
based on the article in Linux Magazine. I ran into two glitches with the
phpMyAdmin install that the article failed to mention...I needed to install
php-mysql and I had to set the full Uri in the phpMyAdmin config file to the
phpMyAdmin directory which is under the Apache document root. After going
through all this, I remembered that there is a mySQL admin module in Webmin.
I checked it out and it should work fine.
The PostNuke installation was fairly painless and so far seems to be a great
package. I haven't gotten too far into it yet, but I have changed the look of
the default site by downloading and installing a theme that I liked and then
moving a few "blocks" around, deactivating others and inserting a new one
with some info from the static pages that I setup for the golf course. I need
to sit down and read the documentation to find out everything that I can do
with it and then start thinking about setting up a real site on the web.
That's when I will be needing some help with setting up some kind of security
system so the site doesn't get hammered by the bad guys!
Guess that's it for now.
