Those of you who follow Slashdot already know this, but I know some people on this list don't. And I know that Mandrake is fairly popular as a "try it out" distribution because of the ease of installation. It seems there is an issue with Mandrake 9.2 installation and LG CD-ROM drives. Basically, don't install Mandrake 9.2 until AFTER you've checked your CD-ROM manufacturer and version. Here's a thread you can read for details: --link may wrap-- http://groups.google.com/groups?dq=&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&threadm=20031025224121.070c56f1.newspost%40xanadu.nagarajan.net&prev=/groups%3Fhl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26group%3Dalt.os.linux.mandrake --link may wrap-- and the details from MandrakeSoft: --link may wrap-- http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en/errata.php3#badlg --link may wrap-- It will be interesting to figure out exactly what is causing the problem.
