If it is anything like RH 8 (and I think mandrake is) It is probably having a IRQ conflict with the firewire and the loopback (don't ask me why) deja.com usta have a few comments on potential fixes (I ended up simply disabling my firewire to make it work) for what its worth.... Mike, Where in the boot process does it hang? You should see a list of things the kernel is doing, followed by an OK. Do you see a task such as 'configuring network interfaces' that does not get an OK when it hangs, or do you see a blank line under the last OK?
