I seem to have acquired the two most common newbie problems with
Mandrake
9.0:

1) Internet/Networking configuration problems

2) Printer ceased to function after initial setup

I am focusing on the internet/network problem first.

I'm dual booting XP Home and Mandrake 9.0 on an e-machine (900 mhz Intel
Celeron with 128 megs ram).

I have a second machine (Packard Bell Packmate 7800, 200mhz  w/ 32megs
ram)
running Windoze 98.  Both have Asound 110/10M ethernet cards.  Mandrake
detects it as a Myson Technology 803 nic.  I have a driver for it (disk
that
came with it), (installed it...) Both boxes are connected to a Linksys
BEFSR11 router by way of an EFAH0SW 5 port workgroup hub.
Aforementioned
router is connected to a  GCI cablemodem. The system works with XP.
Both
boxes can see and access each other and the internet.

Several attempts at configuration have not been successful, so I re-read
all
the manuals, how-to's newsgroups and other sources of info and advice,
hoping to find a solution. Tried a bunch of things that didn't work...
Will
gladly do a fresh re-install to start over. Can someone help, please?

Hmmm... looked out the window and saw something bright... lessee..
might
be the sun?  In Juneau?  I gotta go see THIS....   ;))
