Not sure how many of you will find this useful, but here goes.
I was trying to print from my wife's laptop with XP to a printer on my Linux
box without success. I have Samba setup correctly, I think, but I still
couldn't browse the printers. I went out to Google to look for answers and
found out that I could print from XP through CUPS. All I had to do was edit
the /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and /etc/cups/client.conf files to point to my
system (akbowbender) as the cups server and change the "allow" portion of the
cupsd.conf so I could access the CUPS server from other machines. Then I
setup a new printer in XP that points to
http://akbowbender:631/printers/tp2_640, which is an Epson 640 on
akbowbender. Pretty painless setup, I think.
