[juneau-lug] CAT5 cable..

I'm trying to set up a Win98 box to access the internet
through my Linux box.  I believe I have all software settings
correct but cannot ping either box from the other and no
lights show on either box's network card.  They are connected
with a straight-through CAT5 cable.  Should I be using
cross-over?  Also could someone point me to some info on
testing CAT5 cable?  Can it be tested with a common
multi-tester?
