[jsfg_cinti] Re: jsfg_cinti Digest V8 #121

As an employer, I'm totally comfortable if someone declines to fill in the
social security number until after an interview. I appreciate the concern
about privacy and identity theft.

  Just my opinion,

Resumes come in a variety of formats so organizations need a document that
will capture the info they need. Therefore, the application is a standard
form for all applicants so they gather all the same information rather than
forget something or get charged with discrimination (they probably have some
driving positions). They want your social security number so they can do a
background check. Yep, it is a complete pain in the booty but you have to
fill it out.

Subject: [jsfg_cinti] Job application

Hello and a good day to all!

Well, I'm getting ready to complete another job application that a company
sent to me. I have an interview with them tomorrow and just have a few
questions about the application. First of all, I already sent them a resume,
so I don't know what they need an application for. I hate these job
applications, after I already sent my resume. It's like an insult!

Well, they ask for a couple of things which I hesitate to give out ( at
least before I get an offer from them): 1) Social security number and 2)
dates of graduation from school. They're also asking me on the application
about my driving record, and I don't understand that either because I don't
plan to be driving in this job, if I get it. It's a desk job I'm sure and I
doubt there's any travel involved so who knows why they want to know my
driving record.

What say y'all, should I put those on the app or wait 'til later? I don't
even know if those are legal-to-ask questions are they?

Thanks

Bill Matthews
