Business Application Programmer

 

Thinkronize, an award winning internet developer of educational products, is 
looking for a business application programmer to join their team.  Thinkronize

We are looking for an experienced, business application programmer to join our 
energetic development team. Candidates must be innovative, creative, flexible, 
and self-directed.  Candidates must understand how to design and write 
high-performance, reliable, maintainable code. The programmer's ability to 
quickly adapt to new development environments, changing business requirements 
and learning new systems is highly desired. This is an exciting opportunity for 
a motivated self-starter who wishes to apply him/herself in the environment a 
growing technology company offers.  

We are looking for programmers with an ability to understand business and 
educational concepts as well as reporting and analytical skills. The business 
application programmer will support reporting and operations functions for our 
sales, customer service, marketing, and content editing systems. Successful 
candidates must be highly motivated and able to work well within a small team.  
A relocation package is not available for this position.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·         Defining, testing, analyzing, and maintaining applications and 
reports in support of core organizational functions and business requirements.

·         Researching, designing, and modifying software specifications 
throughout the production life cycle.

·         Support sales, customer support, and marketing teams with strategic 
business initiatives.

·         Analyze, design, develop and support database-driven applications 
using the following:

      PERL 
     HTML
     
      SQL (used in MySQL & Informix)
     XML
     

·         Participate in technical design, development, testing, 
implementation, and maintenance of changes and enhancements.

·         Assist in developing and maintaining systems documentation.

·         Work with technical team to define application scope and objectives.

 

Skills/Competencies Required:

·         Strong knowledge of Internet scripting languages (PERL, PHP, PYTHON), 
HMTL, XML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL.

·         Experience with PERL and EmbPERL a significant plus.

·         Experience working with the Apache web server a huge plus.

·         3+ years solid experience with Internet scripting languages (PERL, 
PHP, PYTHON).

·         Object Oriented programming (C++, Java) experience a plus.

·         2+ years of experience in data reporting, querying, and analysis.

·         2+ years experience with business analysis and programming to meet 
business strategies.

·         2+ years experience in relational DBMS and SQL technology is required.

·         Commitment to deadlines and attention to details are a must.

·         Strong written and verbal communications skills, combined with the 
ability to work in a dynamic environment.

·         Solid command of UNIX/LINUX/Solaris operating systems.

·         Must possess a willingness to learn new technologies as they become 
important to the success of the department.

 

Salary/Experience:

·         Salary based on experience.

·         Education: BS (required) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
