POSITION DESCRIPTION

SBDC Business Analyst

Responsibilities:

The SBDC Business Analyst position is responsible
primarily for client business management
consulting, which includes direct in-depth client
contact in one-on-one meetings along with
telephone and written communication.  Areas of
consulting include, but are not limited to,
business start-up, strategic planning, business
plan development, marketing planning, financial
analysis, and cash flow forecasting.  Also
responsible for business related research with an
emphasis on detail and accurate documentation,
preparation of material for presentation to the
client and suggest alternative course of action,
and exercise absolute confidentiality of client
information.

Duties:

Interview and assess business client needs.

Provide in-depth consulting with business clients
to determine their needs and capabilities and
develop counseling work plans.

Work closely with Director and/or other agencies
to facilitate the operation of the program.

Attend training sessions and planning meetings for
business analysts to facilitate ongoing knowledge
and ability to provide in-depth consulting.

Assist in planning and marketing of seminars,
training sessions, and conferences.

Community involvement, public appearances as
needed or directed.

Participate in training events as instructor or
moderator.

Assist in efforts to evaluate the effectiveness
and impact of consulting and training events.

Report activities and outcomes, regularly.

Other duties as assigned by Director.

Qualifications:

Ability to relate well and communicate with people
of diverse backgrounds.

Capability of working effectively with both
academic and government sectors, private sectors
and institutes of higher education.

Capability to assess small business needs and
problem-solve.

Strong foundation in computer-generated
spreadsheets and word processing, preferably
Microsoft Office.


Position Requirements:

Graduate of a four-year college or university with
a degree in Business Administration, Economics, or
other related fields and/or a minimum of five
years of experience in business management
ownership or activities.  An equivalent
combination of education and experience, which
demonstrates the acquisition of required
knowledge, skills and abilities, may be
acceptable.

General knowledge of principles of small business
is required.

High level of interpersonal, communication and
analytical skills.

Ability to handle multiple assignments, organize
and establish work priorities with minimal
direction and supervision.

The ability to travel is required.

The ability to meet baseline requirements
established by the Department of Development
within a two-year period.

Meet business analyst position requirements;
receive Certified Business Analyst (CBAO)
Certification within a one (1) year designated
period.

The ability to demonstrate competency in the
following areas:

Business plan development.

Financial analysis including financial statement
ratio analysis.

Develop and interpret financial statements.

Market analysis.

Management assessment.
