Dear JSFG folks,
Here's an excellent source of information about jobs
from the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor
Statistics. It is called the Occupational Outlook
Handbook 2006-2007 and it can be found at URL:
http://www.bls.gov/oco/home.htm
As it says on the website:
"For hundreds of different types of jobs?such as
teacher, lawyer, and nurse?the Occupational Outlook
Handbook tells you:
* the training and education needed
* earnings
* expected job prospects
* what workers do on the job
* working conditions
In addition, the Handbook gives you job search tips,
links to information about the job market in each
State, and more.
...
About the Handbook: The Occupational Outlook Handbook
is a nationally recognized source of career
information, designed to provide valuable assistance
to individuals making decisions about their future
work lives. The Handbook is revised every two years."
The great thing about this resource is that you can
look up the job you are looking for and get the
official government forecast for employment prospects.
That could be useful to you in deciding whether to
continue to look for that kind of job or switch to
something new with better prospects.
It also gives information on what kind of salary you
can expect for a given job title.
Have a great day!
Regards,
Lance Feldman
