Description:
.The Structural Engineer is responsible for the execution of structural
analysis assignments as directed by the Senior Structural Engineer. This
includes the completion of detailed analysis of our vehicles to determine areas
of structural weakness and working closely with the design engineers on
changes/modifications to overcome any structural deficiencies. .Carry out
complete Finite Element Analysis assignments utilizing FEA CAD software tools
to validate the structural integrity of the areas under consideration. .Closely
collaborate with the design engineering personnel both at our U.S. location and
our European counterpart to analyze designs and recommend design changes to
improve the structural integrity of the designs. .Coordinate the results of
Finite Element Analysis calculations with actual structural tests conducted by
the Testing Group. Close involvement with test methods to be used will also be
expected. .Develop a solid understanding of the operating conditions and
environment that our vehicles are exposed to in actual daily usage to ensure
the validity of the test and analysis criteria that are utilized. .Will be
required to work closely with design engineering groups at our U.S. location as
well as our European counterpart. As such, some travel may be required. .Good
working knowledge of industrial welding techniques and practices and the proper
application of these techniques to vehicle structure.
Requirements:
.As a minimum, a B.S. Degree in Engineering with additional specific
education in Structural Engineering. A Masters degree would be an asset. .A
minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the analysis and testing of vehicle
structures. This must include a good understanding of the relationship between
vehicle dynamics and the various design elements of the vehicle. .An excellent
command of the structural analysis software packages such as Pro Mechanica,
ANSYS, or other related software systems that are compatible with Pro-E CAD
models. .Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and successfully
meet schedule deadlines. .Excellent verbal and written communication skills are
required. Must be able to prepare thorough and accurate reports. At times, will
be required to interface directly with customers to present and discuss the
contents of these reports.
