[jsfg_cinti] Re: Stressful job situation?

Your thought of not asking such a question implies that you may be =
looking
at an interview as a one way opportunity - their opportunity to decide =
if
you fit with them. In fact, an interview is a two way exchange. You =
need
to make sure that you want to work for the organization. That means =
that
you take the time to figure out what is important to you in a job and =
make
sure you get all related questions answered. Do not be afraid to ask =
the
hard questions. It is better to have all the information up front so =
you
can make the best decision even if that decision is not to accept a
position.

I highly doubt that work caused the death of either female accountant
because accounting is not terribly dangerous. Not too much chemical
exposure or heavy machinery and paper cuts and calculator finger are =
rarely
fatal. =3D) Work is just one of the contributing factors to stress =
related
deaths. Therefore, while I would think it is OK to ask, I would think =
that
such a question might lose merit because it would not really relate to =
the
job. On the flip side, since they offered up the truth about why there =
is a
vacancy it might mean that the organization has an open, honest culture.

Subject: [jsfg_cinti] Stressful job situation?

Hello and a good day to all!
  =20
Folks, I had a job interview today at Norththrop Grumman for an =
accountant
position. And I was interviewed by 5 different people. One of the things
they told me was that one of the reasons, probably the main reason they =
are
looking for someone, is that two of the women who had been working in =
that
dept recently died about a month apart. So I kinda wonder if I want to =
work
there not.
I didn't ask, but could it be an extremely stressful job environment?
Think I should have asked? What would any of you think? You interview =
for a
job, any kind of job, and they tell you that they are looking for =
someone
because the previous person(s) passed away, leaving a vacancy? Now, one =
of
the persons who interviewed me is doing her work plus that of the two =
who
passed away. Wasn't that terrible of those two ladies to leave her all =
of
that work to do? Well, that's not funny, but it's what happened, as I
understand it.
  =20
I don't know how to decide this. It probably is a good place to work, =
but,
unless I could talk to someone who is working or has worked there =
recently,
I don't know. By the way, the job I interviewed for is a temp to hire
position.
  =20
  Any comments would be appreciated.=20
  =20
  Thanks
