University Job Title:    Senior Facilities Planner

Department Title:       Facilities Management EV

Reports to:                     Manager, Administrative Services - FM

Job Summary:

=20

Reports to and assists the Director of Facilities Planning in the =
following:
space / facilities planning and programming including =
conceptual/schedule
options with scopes of work and proposed budgets; formulation of space
planning guidelines and policies; space inventory and space utilization
management, strategic planning that relates to long-term =
campus/facilities
development; and overall campus planning.

Description of Principal Accountabilities:

*       Assists with and engages in the assessment of space and =
facilities,
the analysis of space utilization, and development and implementation of
guidelines and standards.

*       Reviews users' needs to utilize space in the most cost effective
manner while understanding and taking into account the limitations of
building systems and location. =20

*       Develops facilities programs; conceptual/schematic plans or
drawings, scope of work, schedule, and budgetary allowances. =20

*       Prepares recommendations for how work can be implemented and =
staged.


*       Ensures that effective channels of communication exist among all
interested parties.

*       Prepares plans and drawings, spreadsheets, reports, and
presentations related to space and facilities options. =20

*       Provides updates and status reports on space and facilities =
issues.

*       Assists in the resolution of space management problems, and in =
the
communication and implementation of space management policies.

*       Assists in the development of long-range studies related to the
University's space, infrastructure and facilities. =20

*       Assists in the analysis of campus planning issues and =
formulation of
recommendations.=20

*       Manages consultants in the development of studies, programs, and
plans. =20

*       Administers contracts with outside entities.=20

*       Maintain a current and comprehensive understanding of =
Northwestern
University systems related to space management, AutoCAD documentation,
maintenance management, equipment management and the interface with
University databases.

*       Initiates special projects as deemed appropriate, and undertakes =
and
completes special projects assigned by the Director of Planning.

Minimum Qualifications:

*       A Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Architecture or the
equivalent professional degree in Architecture, or the equivalent
combination of education, experience and training from which comparable
skills can be acquired. =20

*       Minimum five years of progressively responsible and directly =
related
experience in major institutional setting.=20

*       Senior level facilities planning skills and experience =
including:
programming, planning and conceptual design of office, classroom,
laboratory, dormitory, athletic and recreational facilities; space
utilization analysis; understanding of building systems and related
operational issues.

*       Ability to facilitate open and effective communication, =
cooperation
and teamwork within and outside of one's own team.

*       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

*       Previous experience monitoring customer satisfaction and =
providing
suggestions to improve quality and value to the customer.

*       The ability to demonstrate logic, rationality, objectivity and =
to
use all available information to make educated decisions.

*       Previous experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

*       Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects =
simultaneously.

*       The ability to formulate realistic plans and define anticipated
results.

Preferred Qualifications:

*       Architectural license and experience in a medium to large =
university
setting.

*       Knowledge of implementation, maintenance, and use of AutoCAD.
