[jsfg_cinti] Re: Recruiters' questions

Yes, I have experienced that question with both of your results. =
Several
years ago an individual from Robert Half asked for and wrote down names
during our interview. He did in fact contact every person I named in =
order
to sell their services while not getting me a single interview even =
though I
scored very, very high on their technical exam. When I confronted him =
with
the allegations he said that he told me that he was collecting names for
such purposes. This is absolutely not true and is the reason I will =
never
contact or work with Robert Half.

On the flip side, I have been working with several recruiting firms
(TEKSystems and MedFocus) with whom I have had a great experience. They
clear all submissions with me prior to their client. If I have already
submitted my resume to their client (which happened with both) then I =
just
let them know.

It is up to you how you want to work with the recruiters. If they do =
not
want to do things your way then do not work with them. Good luck.

Subject: [jsfg_cinti] Recruiters' questions

Hello and a good day to all! Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving =
Holiday!
  =20
  Here's a question and I hope it's appropriate here: I have met and =
talked
with recruiters and applied for jobs that they were/are trying to fill =
as
most all of us have done. And I seem to have a problem with some of =
their
questions/requirements, one of which goes something like this: "Please =
tell
me where you have applied recently or interviewed and for what job and =
keep
me informed of where you apply and/or interview as we continue our
relationship because I don't want to contact any employer whom you have
already contacted as I would be duplicating our efforts." I have a =
feeling
that they are overstepping their bounds and where I have applied or will
apply/interview is actually none of their business. I wonder if they are
just trying to find out where the openings are so they can build up =
their
data base for making future contacts, thereby causing more competition =
for
me for the jobs I have applied for on my own. Any comments on this?
  =20
About 2-3 years ago I guess, at the general Monday morning meeting, =
some
recruiters came in and talked to the group about various things and
afterward, fielded questions from the group. I would like to see another
meeting where we have a recruiter panel come in like that because this =
is a
question I would like to ask them: why they ask that question of =
candidates
(almost word for word as quoted above). I think every recruiter I haver =
ever
talked to has asked that question.=20
  =20
I have thought what I could say to them is something like: Well, you =
know
it might work better if you would tell me the name of a job that you are
considering me for and a brief job description and I can probably tell =
you
if I have applied for it or not. So there's no need for you to send them =
my
resume because we would be duplicating our efforts.
  =20
So, well, I'd just like to know if anyone else has experienced this =
with
recruiters and what everyone thinks about it.
  =20
  Thanks
