Good Evening all,
There have been some recent posts regarding a member who had a question on
Microsoft Excel.
It wouldn't hurt to briefly mention how to resolve problems with Microsoft
Excel.
Getting Started: Always ensure your Microsoft Office software is up to date
with all patches and service packs.
The Microsoft Office Update web site can tell you how to accomplish this. If
you need the software and are a student at any local college, the college
bookstore
will sell you a copy of Microsoft Office Professional for under $10. [This even
applies if you are a part-time student at UC. ]
Be aware that some versions of Excel can do things earlier version can not.
Please also ensure your anti-virus, anti- spyware and operating software are up
to date too!
Trouble-shooting: Normally most of use start out using the "help" function and
then go to Microsoft's web site for help.
If time allows, there are a variety of on line tutorials on Microsoft's Office
website. Additionally, if you Google "excel tutorial"
you will find some free, well made ones on the web, especially on high school
and college web sites.
If you still need help after this, try Microsoft' forums to see if someone
posted a similar issue before.
Finally, you may
Google what you are trying to do and see if you get a hit. I did that last week
at work when someone sent me a spreadsheet
that was unusable. I located a workaround from a source on the web, implemented
it and moved forward.
As you may guess, the same troubleshooting process applies to other software
whether it be Microsoft Access or non-Microsoft software.
Best Regards,
Michael
