Production Supervisor III (Electro-Mechanical Assembly) - First Shift
 
 
Location:  Cincinnati, OH 45245
 

THE COMPANY

L-3 Fuzing & Ordnance Systems, formerly KDI Precision  Products, Inc., a
division of L-3 Corporation, designs and manufactures precision timing
and safety devices for armament systems for the Department of Defense.
The plant is located at 3975 McMann Road, Cincinnati, OH 45245.
 

DUTIES

Check that all department operations are conducted in conformance with
OSHA, EPA and KDI safety regulations.  
Instruct personnel as required.
Schedule machine use so that actual production is in concurrence with
scheduled production.
Use software operations applicable to F&OS's business needs.
Ensure personnel are properly trained and certified (if required) for
assigned duties, develop and implement cross training programs and
maintain records IAW company Quality Manual and ISO requirements.
Monitor production operations, as required, to insure finished piece
parts and assemblies comply with customer requirements.
Periodically check production forms for proper completion .
Attend production meeting and present schedule/production data.
Responsible for departmental planning, staffing and production
priorities.
Responsible for compliance with departmental policies, procedures,
standards and training.
Process departmental personnel merit reviews and other administrative
tasks as required.
Review, interpret and respond to project authorizations to assure
manpower, equipment and supplies are available to meet production
requirements.
Review existing and potential equipment requirements.
Perform special assigned functions within scope of ability or training.
Coordinate outside contracted services and research new
Electromechanical/electronic/mechanical assembly equipment and supplies.
Initiate purchase requisitions for operating supplies and new equipment.
Participate in and contribute data for annual budget forecasts.
Occasional travel to support department efforts.
Ensure departmental requirements are met and new personnel have an
understanding of the specific safety requirements that pertain to the
task they are performing.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
BS degree or equivalent experience. Minimum of seven years experience in
manufacturing preferably in a high-rate, close tolerance, small
electrical-electronic piece parts and assemblies environment.  Knowledge
and use of Continuous Process improvement, Six Sigma principles, and
Statistical Process Control.
Strong leadership and communications skills required. Must be able to
obtain a Security Clearance if requested. Able to use a computer in
support of work role.
