Hi to my friends at JSFG-
I saw David's message and just had to respond.  Assuming that December
employment decisions are not made because they are either forwarded to
November or postponed to January is a self-fulfilling prophesy.  Believe it
and it will be true.  Don't believe it and what can happen?

As a hiring manager at my former employer, and God knows that more than
enough of my former colleagues are reading this message (Hi!), our fiscal
year ended at the end of March.  I asked for candidates in December for
positions that were budgeted for the first quarter of our fiscal year;
April.

My current position was awarded to me in January of this year.  My employer
was actively seeking candidates through at least Dec. 15th and perhaps
beyond.  Though my interview rounds started in November, I do know that one
of the finalists was not made available until after December 1st.

You owe it to yourselves to enjoy the holidays.  You owe it to yourselves to
claim a little R&R.  I still recommend that you fish and not cut bait.  Just
one man's opinion.  I would hope that as an organization, JSFG is
encouraging you to fish and use their influences to help you.  Were I still
with you, I wouldn't want to see December's Profiles abandoned or by default
combined with November's.

The deadline for November Profile submissions and payment is a mere week
and a half away - Monday, October 20th. Please submit or renew your
profile electronically through the JSFG web site:

To renew an existing profile, type "renewal" in the Profile field of the
online form. Indicate the profile number or month to renew.

This is an easy and inexpensive way to introduce yourself to area

Now that I've triggered your spam filters, here's the deal. Since hiring
traditionally slows to a crawl in December, the Steering Committee has
decided to forgo the December issue of JSFG Profiles. Next month's
mailing will be a combined November/December issue. Online listings for
November will be duplicated for December, at no extra charge.

There is a $10.00 fee for each profile submitted or renewed. Please make
checks payable to JSFG. Payments may be made at any Monday morning
general membership meeting and at the JSFG office. Payments may also be
