Computer Programmer/Analyst

Information Security Analyst
Duties and responsibilities are clustered into two areas; personal
management (approximately 40% of job focus) that addresses assigned tasks
management, interpersonal and inter-departmental relationship and
communication behaviors (working and communicating with others), and
technical and operational management (approximately 60% of job focus) that
encompasses IT security reviews, IT security assessments, IT security
monitoring and event processing. The following are principal duties and
responsibilities (listed in descending order of importance), but not limited
to, in which the ISA will be engaged.
(1) Serves as the principle coordinator for establishing and maintaining
information systems security strategy, standards, procedures and guidelines.
(2) Ensures that department managers, user community and systems
administrators are aware of policies for establishing and maintaining
required security practices and levels.
(3) Works with information systems custodians (department managers, user
community and systems administrators, et. al.) to understand their
respective security needs and assists with implementing practices and
procedures to accommodate said needs subject to the Bank's Information
Security Policy.
(4) Identifies, develops, and implements mechanisms to detect security
incidents in order to enhance compliance with and support of the Bank's
security standards and procedures.
(5) Develops and performs security risk assessments on new products and
systems, along with periodic security risk assessments on existing systems
and identifies and/or recommends appropriate security countermeasures and
best practices.
(6) Identifies and establishes information system security monitoring
solutions. Reviews security logs generated by information system security
monitoring solutions and provides periodic status and statistical reports to
associated custodians.
(7) Reviews and approves infrastructure, and (when deemed necessary)
application level information security changes.
(8) Reviews existing and proposed legislation and regulations (i.e. Federal
Financial Institutions' Examination Council) relating to information systems
security. Identifies potential threats and assists in the research and
development of proposals to enhance information systems security.
(9) Establishes and maintains data security classifications that identify
the relative sensitivity and critical nature of data within the Bank.
Assists department managers in the development and implementation of
practices and procedures that identify sensitive data and the appropriate
safeguards.
(10) Responds to discovered security incidents by informing appropriate
custodians, assisting with determining causes and identifying and executing
remedial actions (if necessary) required to re-establish respective
information system security.
(11) Conducts initial orientation for new employees on information systems
security. Prepares and conducts annual and as needed sessions with employees
that re-enforce knowledge of the requirements of the Information Security
Policy and thereby improve information systems security awareness.
Requirements:
(1) Knowledge at a level normally acquired through the completion of a
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or the equivalent plus four to six
years of information systems experience including one to two years of
related experience in security analysis or data processing auditing.
(2) Strong working knowledge of information systems security standards and
practices (e.g. FFIEC, NIST, CIS, COBIT, SOX or ISO17799/27001), and tools
(e.g...ISS Internet & System Scanner, RealSecure, Nessus, Cain, Retina
Security Scanner, or GFI LANGuard)
(3) Must have experience using security information and event management
software from vendors such as McAfee/Foundstone, Microsoft, Idera, Ecora,
ISS, or Qualys.
(4) Solid knowledge of two or more of Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2003,
IIS, SQL Server, and/or UNIX-based OS and networking required with an
emphasis on security infrastructure.
(5) Must have experience with two or more of the following: intrusion
detection tools, firewalls, IPSec/VPNs, cryptography/PKI, system forensics,
perimeter protection, incident handling or other equivalent information
security subject area.
(6) Must have experience using C#/C++, Visual Basic or other equivalent
programming language.
(7) Good written and oral communication skills necessary to provide reports
and training for department managers, user community and systems
administrators.
(8) Above average analytical skills and attention to detail to provide quick
and effective response to situations that compromise information system
security.
(9) Possession of CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security
Professional) or CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) considered a
plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires daily interaction with PCs and terminals for majority of duties.
Occasional exposure to moderate noise volume when working in Computer Room.
Lifting and moving by hand is required of equipment weighing approximately
30 pounds. Must be able to quickly respond to problems that affect system
security, occasionally requiring work outside the Bank's normal business
hours (i.e. weekends, evenings or early morning).
