To All JSFG Members:
A lot of points were brought up in the discussions on Monday, November 10. At
the most recent Steering Committee meeting (Monday, November 17) I gave a
recap of all comments.
My personal, tentative conclusions of all the topics were summarized in three
points:
The general meeting needs to be changed to increase involvement. One such
change could be "mini workshops" each week. ("Mini-workshops are not designed
to compete with the more professional and detailed workshops.) Another
possible change is to have some sort of "breakout session" at every meeting to
allow others to speak or ask questions.
An almost universal need is for more help with job hunting skills. Core
skills/needs must be identified. Whether JSFG is providing these and how well
should be the standard by which every activity is judged.
Need to prioritize and begin work on top 3 to 5 projects. Participation by
individuals not on the Steering Committee should be a top priority.
We need to recognize that this is the START of a process, not a conclusion.
Focus groups, and other feedback will constantly be reviewed and considered in
future actions.
After much discussion, President Barbara Wilson decided we should begin on four
topics: Orientation; General Meeting Content and Structure; Workshops: and
Mentoring/Early Involvement by new members of JSFG.
Your feedback now and in the future is greatly appreciated.
Harris Yates
Marketing Chairman
