DIRECTOR OF GLOBAL PURCHASING
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Functional head responsible for the overall materials purchasing
program
for the  business unit.
·
· Work collaboratively with General Managers to make strategic sourcing
decisions.
· Coordinate common purchasing policies and practices among all
locations.
· Use financial analysis and modeling to understand business impacts of
purchasing decisions (e.g. make vs. buy).
· Develop strategies through progressive and innovative procurement
practices.
· Effective interaction with key suppliers to build long-term business
relationships.
· Negotiate and contract multi-year contracts or programs.
· Determine appropriate levels of purchasing for overall cost
effectiveness.
· Travel to international and domestic locations.
· Manage direct reports, including training, development and
performance
management.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Training, Experience):

· BS in business or technical field; MBA desired.
· 10-15 years related experience; 5+ years in strategic purchasing
leadership role.
· Previous experience in operations, product or engineering role.
· Understanding of manufacturing processes--manufacturing experience in
a
mid/low volume environment with complexity of product mix important
(not
pure commodity purchasing).
· Strong financial background or formal training/education in financial
concepts/tools.
· Exposure to QS9000 desired.
· Ability to analyze and identify appropriate levels of purchasing and
purchasing strategies aligned with business objectives.
· Possess innovative and contemporary thinking.
· Desire and motivation to strive for best-in-class practices, by
managing
through metrics.
· Ability to negotiate multi-year contracts with key suppliers.

Sales and growth have been consistently rising by about 20% yearly.
They
are looking for an individual that can improve efficiencies through
consolidation and cost reduction in purchasing.  Need someone who will
partner with suppliers, not just beat them down on price.  Manufacture
mid
to low volume products, so the same would be ideal.  A complex product
mix
and a ton of suppliers so someone with the same is preferred.  Foreign
sourcing is ideal.

5 locations in the US,  2 in Colorado, and 1 each in South Carolina,
Michigan, and Texas.
