JobDescript: We are currently seeking a talented variable data programmer who 
can be creative and solve problems individually.  This position requires the 
ability to take complex data structures and create variable output formats that 
meet design and postal requirements. 
 
On a day to day basis, the job duties of this position will include the 
following:
 
Organize and proiritize required tasks and operate in a deadline driven 
environment
Design, create, test and implement applications that impact direct mail programs
Complete database updates, revisions, additions via SQL or FileMaker Pro
Interact with internal and external customers to provide information on current 
applications, and develop relationships with external customers to clearly 
define application requirements
Perform quality control, code review and standard data validation practices 
prior to production release
Troubleshoot complex application issues and improve performance as needed
 
Required Skills
 
To meet the demands of this position, the Variable Data Programer needs to 
possess the following skills and experience:
1+ years experience in the use of Compuset, DesignMerge, Yours Truly, xmpie, 
GMC Printnet, Pageflex, Exstream or  VIPP along with a solid foundation in 
postal guidelines and requirements.
Solid understanding of design standards (InDesign or Quark).
Database background (SQL, FileMaker Pro, MS Access).
Experience in the integration of data and design elements in mail processing 
software applications.   
Management of large and relational databases, along with the proven ability to 
update and integrate into varying layout structures is required. 
Excellent problem solving/analytical skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, deadline driven environment.
Ability to work flexible hours.
 
Preferred Additional Skills:
 
Firm understanding of design elements, images and conversion to print media is 
a plus
Additional background and experience with Perl and MySQL are also preferred
Ability to manage and develop batch program creation, interlinking differing 
software platforms are desired
