is seeking to fill Plant Operator 1 positions in the Wastewater Treatment D=
ivision.  Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for monito=
ring the proper operation of and controlling the various processes and equi=
pment in our wastewater treatment plants.  This position performs process m=
aintenance tasks to ensure normal, continuous operations and related duties=
 as required.  Plant Operators are required to be certified through the Ohi=
o Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) as one condition of passing the 12=
-month probationary period.  You may receive your OIT certification at any =
time by passing the OEPA State Exam.  Obtaining your OIT plus year of exper=
ience is required to obtain a Water Class 1 Certification.  Information on =

Plant Operators may be required to work irregular and/or rotating shifts in=
cluding weekends and holiday.

 QUALIFICATIONS: Each applicant must be a high school graduate or have pass=
ed the GED (General Education  =20
 Development) test and have either an OEPA Class 1 Wastewater Operator-in T=
raining (OIT) designation, a Class 1 Wastewater Operator Certification, or =
forty-eight credit hours of college level coursework, of which twenty-four =
must be in the areas of math, physics, biology, chemistry, engineering, wat=
er or wastewater technology, or related field.  One year of experience work=
ing in the field of waste/wastewater treatment may substitute for 24 hours =
of course credit.  Must have or obtain an Ohio EPA Class 1 wastewater certi=
fication (or Operator-In-Training designation) and have satisfactory work p=
erformance during 12 months probationary period in order to pass probation.=
  A Plant Operator 1 possessing the required Ohio EPA Class 1 certification=
 and one year satisfactory per- formation as a Plant Operator 1 will be pro=
moted without exam to Plant Operator 2.  May be required to work irregular =
and/or rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.  A Plant Operator m=
ust be able to hear and respond to telephone, alarm signals, and unusual no=
ises in the plant, work in confined spaces and at heights, climb and descen=
d ladders up to 25 feet, lift up to 60 lbs, and wear an air supplied and/or=
 filter respiratory protection device in a manner that provides the require=
d protection against toxic fumes, oxygen deficiency, dust, and/or airborne =
particles. Position will require a criminal background investigation.  All =
required experience must have occurred within the last (5) five years. You =
are required to show your valid driver's license to the Human Resources Dep=
artment staff NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE DATE FOR FILING APPLICATIONS.  Mus=
t be a Hamilton County resident at the time of appointment.
