This position has responsibility for profit/ loss and development/execution=
 of strategic marketing business plans for Business Unit market and product=
 categories.  Key activities include:  strategic planning, ongoing maintena=
nce of existing product lines, new product development and launch, business=
 analysis, promotional program development/execution, merchandising materia=
ls development, package design, advertising, sales communication, and budge=
ting.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:=20

1.        Marketing/Business Plan
=EF=BF=BD          Prepare the annual business plan for Business Unit to in=
clude:  competitive analysis, market/industry analysis, product and product=
 group analysis, volume analysis, budgets, customer need identification and=
 verification, opportunity identification, past performance analysis, strat=
egy development for all elements of product mix and support & coordination =
of other Business Units.  Marketing spending budget developed annually.

2.        New Products
=EF=BF=BD          Provide leadership for cross-functional product introduc=
tion teams.  Coordinate new product projects through the six step process: =
 (1) Idea Generation, (2) Idea Evaluation, (3) Concept/Strategy Development=
, (4) Product Development, (5) Product Introduction and (6) Product Feedbac=
k/Analysis.  Meet projected timelines for key new product roll-outs.  Also =
include management of all aspects of package development and production.

3.        Merchandising Materials
=EF=BF=BD          Develop marketing tools (point of sale, point of purchas=
e, sell sheets, price lists, etc.) for new and existing products.  See all =
projects from conception to final field communication.  Results of programs=
 analyzed at minimum on an annual basis.  Manage material inventory levels =
and ensure all material is updated.

4.        Advertising and Promotion
=EF=BF=BD          Work with agency to develop advertising to support exist=
ing business and new products/programs.  Develop marketing materials, promo=
tions/incentives for existing and new products including direct mail and ne=
wsletters, as appropriate.  See all promotions from conception to final fie=
ld execution. =20

5.        P& L  Responsibility/Business Analysis
=EF=BF=BD          Meet or exceed budgeted profits in Business Unit markets=
.  Perform appropriate financial and market analysis and determine pricing,=
 break-even points, and payback for projects, markets and products to assur=
e profitability and effective use of limited resources.  Review sales level=
s against budget and history as necessary.


6.        Product and Competitive Information
=EF=BF=BD          Manage packaging of existing products to ensure informat=
ion is accurate and meets customer and regulatory requirements.  Gather and=
 disseminate  Pierre Foods and competitive product and program information =
as appropriate.  Maintain industry information and competitive files for ma=
rkets.

7.        Communications
=EF=BF=BD          Ensure timely and accurate communications of all program=
s, product information, competitive information, etc., to the field and int=
ernally, including electronic communication.

8.        Customer/Field Support
=EF=BF=BD          Provide support at customer presentations and trade show=
s as appropriate.  Provide timely support to ad hoc requests for informatio=
n or assistance in meeting customer needs.  Work with Business Unit Leader =
to determine trade show objectives, promotions, and imagery.

9.        Packaging
=EF=BF=BD          Work with outside resources on package design as appropr=
iate and be well versed on all elements of package development.
=EF=BF=BD          Maintain files on current and relevant package history.

10.     Forecasting
=EF=BF=BD         Coordinate monthly volume forecasts for product lines to =
be used for financial budget, production, and capacity planning purposes.

11.     Market Research
=EF=BF=BD         Recommend, execute and analyze market research as busines=
s needs dictate.

12.     Cost Management
=EF=BF=BD         Monitor product costs and margins to problems and opportu=
nities in a timely manner.  Champion cost reduction projects to benefit Bus=
iness Unit and company profitability.

Requirements_Qualif: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA=EF=BF=BDS):

1.        Strong written and verbal communication skills.
2.        Strong analytical ability.
3.        Computer proficiency (word processing and spreadsheet)
4.        Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse person=
alities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:=20

1.        Four (4) year college degree required.
2.        Minimum two (2) years Consumer Packing Goods experience in retail=
/warehouse             clubs required.
