The responsibilities for this position include creating and developing 
innovative and best-in-class human factors solutions.

Principal Responsibilities: 

Develops and documents information structures, navigation structures, and 
interaction models for assigned projects. 
Documents all HF deliverables - User Profiles, UI Brief, UI Spec, Site Maps, 
Information Architecture, Screen decks, wireframes, etc. 
Ensures the HF deliverables are appropriate for the intended audience - such as 
physicians, nurses, etc. - to facilitate the onward development of the product 
Conduct complex customer task analysis across multiple customer segments using 
recognized data gathering techniques. Synthesize data and communicate results 
in order to guide design of software products for multiple customer segments. 
Consult with Business Analysts and software engineering leads to develop 
product concepts and requirements. Working within a program of controlled user 
interface evolution, advocate and maintain user interface consistency across 
MedPlus products. 
Design and code user interfaces 
Design, create, conduct and evaluate usability tests. Communicate results and 
recommendations based on customer tests and generally use results to influence 
methods, standards and designs. 
Provide technical input and assistance to management on MedPlus user interface 
design and testing methods and train and develop other human factors staff 
members. Influence tactical decisions. 
Facilitate workshops with other departments to gather requirements, discuss 
concepts and future development issues 
Collaborate with Product Team and Engineering members to provide best practice 
direction for the products' UI and task completion (to ensure ultimate 
efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction for achieving a user goal) 
Clearly communicate information architecture to project team members. 
Ensure a user-centered design approach is adhered to, (using approved 3rd party 
agencies to assist if required) using appropriate research techniques to meet 
project, schedule and budget constraints. Develop and document user interface 
design recommendations based on outcome of research 
Develop and document project-specific research goals at start of projects 
Responsible for developing, conducting, analyzing and reporting primary user 
research intended to drive end-user requirements. They must be familiar with 
secondary research sources and literature on user-centered design. The work may 
include focus group studies, ethnographic research, usability evaluations, 
questionnaire studies and other forms of research designed to gather end-user 
requirements. 
Teamwork: Assist in the workflow management of other teams where necessary to 
optimize service delivery 
Agree, monitor and achieve team and individual performance targets 
Coach and motivate the team, acting as a role model for high performance 
Lead the balance of project team on prototype development and other activities 
to support user-centered product development 
R & D: Stays abreast of issues related to usability and interaction design, 
adheres to and evolves interaction design standards

Requirements_Qualif: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Experience in HCI, Human Factors or related discipline OR at least 5-7 years 
relevant experience 
Experience in usability testing methodologies and user-centered design 
Exceptional analytical skills 
Exceptional writing skills 
Strong abilities to synthesize many data into coherent information design 
direction 
3 years experience (minimum) in information architecture/user interface design 
Relevant application (Visio, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and design process 
expertise 
Developed approach to user-centered design methodology 
3 years of Web-related experience 
Web/software/multimedia development teams 
Strong client interaction/negotiation skills
