1. Responsible for planning and developing recreational activities and 
educational programs in conjunction with departmental staff for building 
physical skills and educational remediation. 2. Maintains a current roster of 
all residents involved in recreational activities and programs. Provides 
supervision of youth for off-grounds sports related activities. 3. Provides 
direct supervision for residents through coaching, counseling and crisis 
intervention.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
4. Provides written semi-annual evaluations of existing recreation and 
departmental programs and plans for additional programs. Prepares departmental 
reports as required. 5. Provides orientation for all new residents in order to 
develop individual needs, consults with residential treatment staff regarding 
recreational programs and individual youth progress. 6. Assist in the Annual 
Budget preparation for the recreational budget, responsible for monitoring 
inventory and care of all recreational educational equipment and supplies.

Requirements_Qualif: Mimimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Must have average to good fitness level. 2. Ability to swim in deep water 
and be certified in life guarding. 3. Ability to plan and develop various 
recreational activities. 4. Ability to provide counseling and advice to 
individuals and groups regarding behavior problems consistent with treatment 
goals. 6. Ability to communicate effectively with youth, staff and outside 
school personnel. 7. Knowledge of recreational activities and various sports 
such as football, volleyball, baseball, basketball and track. 8. Ability to 
plan and executie schedules with other on a large scale. 9. Basic skills and 
working knowledge of treatment concepts.

Qualifications:
Bachelors's Degree in physical education or related social service are plus 2 
years experience working with adolescents, or 5 years experience counseling and 
supervising adolescents in group related activities with two of the five years 
preferred in coaching experience with an organized team sport. Personal 
leadership skills with the ability to organize and motivate youth in assigned 
activities.
