1.       Research, review and collaborate with Flight Operations and In Fli=
ght to write the appropriate policies and procedures required by Homeland S=
ecurity, FAA, Comair, etc. for the Operations Manual and Operations Specifi=
cations

-  Collaborate with necessary personnel (i.e. Flight Operations, Inflight, =
Maintenance, Corporate Security, Customer Service, etc.) to ensure the most=
 current information is captured in regards to required policies and proced=
ures in appropriate manuals=20
-  Work jointly with department personnel for best resolution and process f=
or new or modified policies and procedures to determine if manageable, to c=
reate less of an impact on the workforce, and to reduce costs=20
-  Provide guidance to Flight Operations and In Flight to ensure all writte=
n policies and procedures comply with applicable regulations=20
2.       Research management and Flight Operations/Inflight questions on co=
mpliance and regulatory issues

-  Act as a SME as it relates to any and all questions regarding the compli=
ance with Flight Operations and Inflight FARs (i.e. Can Comair carry passen=
gers on an aircraft that does not have a Comair logo/branding)=20
-  Maintain positive working relationships with all airline/transportation =
related government agencies=20
Network with other departments for best results and to keep up to date on p=
ertinent government, company and department changes=20
-  Research technical or regulatory questions and/or issues generated by th=
e Flight Operations and Inflight department through CCLs or Training. =20
-  Assists others in writing text to manuals=20
3.       Communicate and coordinate with the FAA on manual and policy chang=
es

-  Visit Comair FAA Certification Management Unit in Louisville, KY, as nec=
essary, to jointly review, edit and submit final written text to be incorpo=
rated into manual=20
-  Document responses to NPRMs and Advisory Circulars (AC=EF=BF=BDs) (i.e. =
Comair responds that no action will take place regarding an Notice on 737 a=
ircraft type because that aircraft type is not in current fleet)=20
4.       Interpret FARs, exemptions, and other government regulatory inform=
ation to ensure compliance

-  Collaborate with Flight Operations and In Flight to draft policies and p=
rocedures and receive approval from FAA to fly under exemption status=20
-  Collaborate with Flight Operations and In Flight to draft security polic=
ies required by Homeland Security and other government regulations=20
5.       Remain current on legislation, NPRMs and draft versions of ACs to =
provide guidance to Flight Operations and Inflight management on emerging i=
ssues. =20

-  Analyze and make recommendations on new and updated information from the=
 FAA=20
-  Participate and collaborate within the OSWG (Ops Specs Working Group) to=
 determine how changes to Operations Specifications affect work unit, depar=
tment, and Comair=20
-  Research and review the Federal Register daily to capture all of the NPR=
Ms and ACs=20
-  Submit any advice, concerns or recommendations to FAA in light of notice=
=20
-  Collaborate with Flight Operations and In Flight to draft and submit pri=
or to deadline and ensure approval by FAA of Comair=EF=BF=BDs policy/proced=
ure relating to new or revised FARs, SFARs (Special FARs), Notices ACs and =
Orders=20
 6.      Perform other duties as assigned

-  Maintain oversight of CASS (Cockpit Access Security System).=20

Requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field, whic=
h is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelo=
r's Degree, preferably in Aviation Administration or Safety or similar fiel=
d. =20
Minimum 5 to 7 years of regulatory compliance experience required.  Excelle=
nt leadership, problem solving skills, organizational skills and strong wri=
ting skills required. =20
Experience developing procedural manuals and interfacing with governmental =
agencies (FAA, TSA) required.  =20
Previous leadership or supervisory experience required. =20
FAA classes in System Safety and ATOS (Air Transportation O S) required to =
be completed within six months from date in position.  =20
Thorough knowledge and understanding of FARs (Federal Aviation Regulations)=
 and TSA regulations preferred.=20
Knowledge of the FAA=EF=BF=BDs IOPSS (Industry Operations Safety System) pr=
eferred.=20
