Job Loss Anxiety Highest in Years
Despite end of recession, fear endures

Though the recession has officially been over for almost two years, workers are 
more worried about the economy now than they have been in the past six years, 
according to a new survey.

And they have good reason: nearly one in five American workers lost a full- or 
part-time job in the past three years, according to researchers at Rutgers 
University and the University of Connecticut.

It's even worse for lower-income workers. Nearly a fourth of those earning less 
than $40,000 a year lost their full-time jobs since spring 2000.

That's according to an annual Work Trends report, called "The Disposable 
American Worker: Living in a Job-Loss Economy," released Monday by Rutgers 
University's John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development.
