Position: Manager, Business Retention and Expansion
Qualifications: Bachelors Degree Strongly Preferred; Relevant experience
with Northern Kentucky and/or Greater Cincinnati Primary Companies and
manufacturing or operations experience highly desirable.
Reports To: Senior Vice President for Manufacturing Projects and Business
Retention & Expansion Program
Interface With: Entire Tri-ED staff and senior management of existing
Northern Kentucky companies
Overall Responsibilities: Assist the Senior VP for Manufacturing Projects
and Business Retention and Expansion Program with the continuing
implementation and everyday activities associated with the retention and
expansion of existing business and industry in the counties of Boone,
Campbell, and Kenton. Primary responsibility for creating, implementing and
evaluating new programs that will be viewed by existing businesses as
helpful to their assimilation into the Northern Kentucky business
community. Provide assistance for: development of linkages and programs
with and between business and industry; innovative job creation/retention
projects; research and data collection efforts for Tri-ED. Additionally,
provide assistance with linkages to business and industry in the Northern
Kentucky community, including the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic
Development's existing business program, University of Kentucky, Northern
Kentucky University, and the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. In
conjunction with the Senior VP for BR&E, provide leadership and
collaboration with the implementation of tactics associated with the goals
contained within Tri-ED's strategic plan adopted January 2008.
Typical Duties: Assist the Senior VP for Business Retention and Expansion as
follows:
1. Conduct on site visitations to existing primary businesses.
2. Maintain an up-to-date existing business and industry database for
Northern Kentucky in cooperation with the Tri-ED Research Manager, project
managers and other Tri-ED staff.
3. Responsible for creating new, innovative programs pertaining to
Business Retention and Expansion
4. Conduct appropriate business and industry surveys for Northern
Kentucky in conjunction with Kentucky Economic Development Cabinet, Northern
Kentucky University and the Tri-ED research manager utilizing results to
formulate appropriate responses, programs, and/or services from allied
development partners in Northern Kentucky.
5. Serve as a point of contact for existing business and industry and
work as a liaison with government units pertaining to issues/concerns of
business and industry.
6. Support the training and workforce development needs of our Northern
Kentucky businesses. Further, assist Senior VP for BR&E in the development
of Bluegrass State Skills grant and tax credit training for area industry as
well as other sources of funding to help offset training costs.
7. Work with the Tri-ED Business Retention and Expansion Committee.
8. "Workforce" resource within Northern Kentucky Tri-ED providing
guidance and assistance to the research and data collection efforts of
Tri-ED, assistance to other Tri-ED employees regarding workforce issues and
interaction with, and linkages to, the development community, including the
Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.
9. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Compensation Class: Exempt
Compensation Range: 50,000 to 65,000 depending on qualifications/experience
& fringe benefit package, Tri-ED credit card for business expense;
