[jsfg_cinti] Re: Interview questions

I think the work ethic question is looking for: what priority is work in
your life? Are you willing to put work ahead of home and family? Are you
willing to work 65 hour weeks if necessary? Does work come first in your
life? Do you stick with the task until the problem is solved when the
deadline is fast approaching?

Months with years is looking for gaps in work history. If I left one job in
January of 01 and did not start the next job until July 02, that is an 18
month gap in work history which years alone would not reveal. The employer
wants to know about that gap and why it is there.

College graduation year can tell the employer whether you graduated before
computers. You can answer that question pro actively by talking about how
updated your technical skills are, latest software you know, etc. You do
not have to give date of graduation or any clue as to your age.

These are good questions, thanks for sharing. Chris Vogelsang

Subject: [jsfg_cinti] Interview questions

Hello and a good day to all!

I had an interview last Wednesday and as it turns out it seemed like a
behavioral interview, at least there were some of those types of questions
posed by the interviewer. One question which he asked me, which I had a
problem with was: How would I describe my work ethic? What does he mean?
What is work ethic? Is it different things to different people and different
work environments?

Also, he was looking over my resume and suggested that I put months in
with the years I was employed at past employers. Good idea, or not?

And he suggested I put the date I graduated from college in the education
section. What's he asking for -my age? That's something that I refuse to do,
put the date of graduation.

Maybe I could have asked him why he suggested these things.

  Any comments greatly appreciated.
