[jsfg_cinti] Re: Info. on McKenzie Scott org. as of 2/26/03

First of all I would like to thank Dean for being so truthful about his
experience. People don't like being taken advantage of and a good number of
them wouldn't admit it voluntarily even if they were. Myself included.
However, Dean inspired me and if I can help prevent someone else from being
exploited, then my loss wasn't for nothing. I was taken for $1,500 by Allen
& Associates. The "sales pitch" was similar but not nearly as glitzy. They
approached me when I was early in my job search and I was very naive about
looking for a job. I agree with Dean that JSFG is a place to get a great
deal of coaching and contacts.

Don't waste your time OR money! I'm sorry now to say that I did.

Here's what you get for your $5,500...
A fresh, new resume. It was an improvement over what I had put together but
not worth the $$.
The following distributions of resumes:
200 to local recruiters (1st class mail)
200 to local employers (1st class mail)
200 to local growth firms (1st class mail)
3,000 to nationwide recruiters (e-mail)
200 to venture capitalists (e-mail)
Ironically, when I questioned them as to providing a list of who the
information was sent to, I was told it was generated "by their system" and
was both proprietary and non-retrievable. The good thing is that what I
call, "Thank You, No" 1st class mail responses kept the post office busy for
a couple of weeks.
The information on their website, touted to be real-time, is generally 2-3
days late.
They stress the need to get to the decision makers but that is for YOU to
do... there is no help from MS on finding OR contacting the decision makers
within any company.
All of the distributions were sent to HR, not to anyone of "importance" (no
offense intended you HR types)!
Their big push is that 70-80% of the jobs are filled by networking. Duh.
Believe me, JSFG and 10-10-220 are a lot alike... it only costs a buck! Save
your money and attend the meetings and talk to everyone that you can... I'll
be there Monday at 9AM!

Dean

P.S. I wish that I would have heard about JSFG earlier.
BTW, I have talked to my "coach" only once since 12/10/02.
