CONTROLLER

An Indianapolis (Southside) Construction Systems employer of approximately 200 
employees, has an immediate opportunity for a Controller. Reporting to the 
President/CEO, the Controller directs overall financial activities of the 
organization (see Principal Duties). Requirements include ability to work and 
function well in a ?construction environment/culture? and a high level of 
demonstrated Leadership, Communication, and Analytical skills.

Principal Duties: 

·        Directly supervises 3 to 5 employees, including Accounting Support 
personnel and Receptionist.

·        Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business 
activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings 
based on past, present, and expected operations.

·        Appraises the organization's financial position and issues periodic 
reports on organization's financial stability, liquidity, and growth.

·        Analyzes, consolidates, and directs all cost accounting procedures 
together with other statistical and routine reports.

·        Provides management with timely reviews of organization's financial 
status and progress in its various programs and activities.

·        Oversees and directs treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, 
purchasing, real estate, long range forecasting, and insurance activities for 
the organization.

·        Provides and directs procedures and computer application systems 
necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls 
and services.

·        Advises management about insurance coverage for protection against 
property losses and potential liabilities.

·        Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and 
capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other 
reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial 
position for other managers.

Goals

The current goals for the Controller include:

1.      Enhance current job cost control systems and implement additional cost 
control measures.

2.      Expand utilization of Starbuilder system to include custom reports, etc.

3.      Serve as a major contributor to insurance, legal and financial 
components of risk management system. 

4.      Effectively interface with operations and project managers.

5.      Understand and improve purchasing system and warehouse efficiency.

Position Requirements & Important Skills: 

Undergraduate degree and three to five years (minimum) related experience.

CPA not required, but is a plus.

Background/experience in construction and/or manufacturing and/or public 
accounting.

A high level of demonstrated Leadership, Communication, and Analytical skills 
is required.

Ability to work and function well in a ?construction environment and culture? 
is required.

A thorough understanding and experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, 
Access, PowerPoint). Experience with Starbuilder accounting system is a plus.

Experience with administration of a computer network is also a plus.

Compensation/Benefits: 

Annual salary in the mid to upper $50,000, depending on 
qualifications/experience. Employer provided Group Health Plan for Employee & 
Family; Retirement Plan (SEP)
