[jsfg_cinti] Re: How to dress, etc

Dear Bill,
Do you really think it makes a difference that you are going in for a test and
not an interview?

Is this the first time that they are meeting you? If so, don't you want to
make a good "first impression", even if it you are there to take a test and not
to interview? Let me quote one of the articles I referred you to:

"In job-hunting, first impressions are critical. Remember, you are marketing a
product -- yourself -- to a potential employer, and the first thing the
employer sees when greeting you is your attire; thus, you must make every
effort to have the proper dress for the type of job you are seeking."

Unless you have been told to show up dressed in dirty blue-jeans and a t-shirt,
I suggest that you dress appropriately for the position like the article says.
For professional positions that generally means a suit and tie.

But if you are really worried about making too good a first impression by
dressing up, call the business and ask them what manner of dress is
appropriate. That's easy, right?

Lance

Thanks, but this is not an interview I am going to, it's just for testing.

Well, I've been asked to take some tests for a job that I recently applied for
on line. I'll be taking the test at the job location on Saturday. Any ideas as
to how I should dress? It's not a job interview, but just a test,I think, that
is how it was told to me.

By the way, anyone have any knowledge of or contacts at the Resident House in
Westwood? That's where the job is.

Thanks

Bill Matthews
