[jsfg_cinti] "Get out. Do good." - February 2005

VolunteerMatch NewsletterGood Morning!
Several weeks ago one of the JSFG Members was asking how to get connected with
volunteer opportunities. This electronic publication is sent on a regular basis
to all who suscribe. This is an excellent way to connect to organizations in
need. I hope you all find it of some use.

Happy hunting!

Month," dedicated to recognizing the importance of a healthy heart.

      2. Get Involved: National Volunteer Week

The 32nd annual National Volunteer Week will be celebrated April 17
through 23. National Volunteer Week is a time to honor volunteers at the local,
state and national levels.

The 2005 theme, "Inspire By Example," reflects the power volunteers have
to inspire the people they help, as well as to inspire others to serve!

      3. In the News: Volunteering Study

57% of adults performed volunteer service in 2004 according to a national
survey released by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, a nonprofit financial
services organization helping members achieve their financial goals.

According to the survey, 75% of those who volunteer said that acting on
their moral values was either an absolutely important or very important factor
in why they volunteer. This compares with 47% who volunteer to gain new
experiences, 42% who volunteer because they were helped by a volunteer in the
past, and 39% who volunteer because of a desire to meet other people.
