  Pierre Foods, Inc., an innovative processor of premium quality beef, pork and 
poultry products, has an immediate opportunity available for Application 
Development Manager, reporting to the IT Director.
   
  Job Overview:
  Management of multiple I-Series/OS400 developers using RPG in a 24x7 
manufacturing environment with multiple plants.  Also, management of 
GL/AP/AR/other requests using Peoplesoft Enterprise 1 software in an AIX 
environment.  Project management, personnel management and solid communication 
skills are a must.  Experience with Peoplesoft (JDEdwards World or Enterprise 
1) financial implementations is desired.
   
  Technical Skills description:
  OS/400 skills/systems management would be an advantage.  Familiarity with 
PRISM Manufacturing software, Salestracker software package, GBA Fixed Assets 
software package, AIX operating system on an I-Series(AS/400), DB2 database, 
Gentran EDI on an AS/4000 and PMP certification are all advantageous, however, 
all are not required.  
   
  Job Skills Requirements:
  Management of resources and project/request management are primary focus.  
This requires setting user expectations/priorities and communicating IT 
initiatives along with timelines to IT management, users, employees and 
managing to that expectation.  Also, an ample set of soft-skills would be a 
great benefit.
   
  Critical Requirements:
  * Meeting with users to discuss their jobs and business requirements/requests.
  * Scoping projects and outlining steps for successfully implementing the 
project from the
     business perspective and IT perspective.
  * Being able to act as a liaison between user desires/requests/demands/time 
limits and 
     programming requirements-i.e.: the ability to "bridge the gap for IT".  
  * Being able to satisfy business demands with timely, logical, solid systems 
is a core competency 
     for this position.
  * Working with all levels of the company (management to factory personnel).
  * Learning how company software packages fit together and interface/function.
  * Strong business knowledge of how software fits with business applications.
  * Must look at IT systems from the business standpoint for success in this 
position.
  * Setting expectations judiciously and handling IT - user relationships.
  * Proactive management of user requests and proactive communication to users 
is critical to success
     in this position.
   
  Additional Requirements:
  Some programming in RPG or CL may be required in order to learn existing 
software packages which are installed.  
  Once the incumbent has experience in the position, handling prioritization of 
projects would follow on responsibility, initially, prioritization of projects 
will be made in conjunction with IT Director.
