Job Summary: 

Ability to operate all equipment currently in the Automated Electronic Assembly 
work cell.  Ability to learn (operate and program) any new equipment with 
minimal training.  Computer literate with a working knowledge of software 
operations applicable to KDI's business needs.  Work closely with SMT Process 
Engineer to develop and improve processes for automated equipment.  Ability to 
communicate with employees supervisor and others related to job requirements.  
Ability to maintain SPC data charts, status records of production programs and 
other pertinent information.  Assist Supervisor in maintaining departmental 
compliance with policies, procedures and departmental standards, including 
training of departmental personnel for correct interpretation and 
implementation.  Monitor operations, as required, to ensure finished product 
complies with specifications.  Perform other duties and special functions as 
assigned within scope of ability and training.  Troubleshoot and resolve 
process related problems within scope of abilities.  Occasional travel to 
support department efforts.  Ensure departmental safety requirements are met 
and new personnel have an understanding of the specific safety requirements 
that pertain to the task they are performing.  Maintain equipment supplier 
contacts for support in troubleshooting and repair.  Train production personnel 
to operate the equipment.  Ensure personnel are properly trained for assigned 
duties.  Overtime may be necessary to complete required work assignment with 
little or no advance notice.  Perform 5S and housekeeping operations.  Maintain 
and change equipment program for all equipment assigned per Engineering Change 
notices.  Maintain and perform reflow oven profiles.  Assist in machine 
troubleshooting/repair and preventative maintenance routines.  Assist in 
installation and calibration of equipment as required.

 

Experience/Education:  

Completion of a two year degree in electro-mechanical, electrical or electronic 
engineering technology; or posses equivalent military or commercial 
electro-mechanical, electronic/microelectronic experience; or have completed a 
certified apprenticeship program in industrial electronic control systems with 
hands on experience operating sophisticated electro-mechanical automation 
equipment.  Must be able to comprehend contents of high-rate assembly equipment 
technical manuals and attendant publications; including logic, wiring and 
pneumatic schematics and drawings.  Formal course study and/or certificate of 
completion of SPC theory and practice desired.  Minimum of 3 years working in a 
high speed automated electronics assembly environment, exceptional knowledge of 
surface mount technology, solder and conformal coating processes, with 
responsibilities including, but not limited to, programming, machine setup and 
operator training.  Experience/Education in ISO, Continuous Process Improvement 
and Statistical Process Control desired.

 

Salary Range:  $21.00 - $23.00 per hour           

 

Start Date:       Immediate

 

Other Requirements/Comments: Ability to work standing 100% of each workday, 
high degree of manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 50 pounds and be 
physically capable to travel.
